WhatsApp is testing a new status bar UI for stories and channels with previews and easier access. Get more details here.

WhatsApp, the popular messaging app with over 5 billion active users, owned by Meta, is testing a new design for its status bar that will highlight stories and channels at the top. The new UI, which is currently available to some beta users, will change the shape and position of the status bar and display a preview of the content.

According to WABetaInfo, a website that tracks WhatsApp updates, the new Status bar UI will replace the current circular status bar with a rectangular one that will appear at the top of the app. The new status bar will show a thumbnail of the story and people will able to preview it without opening them.

Users can tap the status bar to open a full-screen view of the story or swipe left or right to switch between them.

According to WABetaInfo, the new UI is currently available on the beta version (v2.24.4.23) of WhatsApp for Android and iOS devices. However, it is unclear when this feature will be rolled out in the stable version of the app. WhatsApp has not yet officially announced or confirmed the new UI.

If you want to try out the feature, you will need to enroll in the WhatsApp Beta program, which has limited slots. Alternatively, you can wait for this feature to be released in the stable version of WhatsApp, which may take some time.

WhatsApp is constantly working on improving its application. Recently, WhatsApp added a feature that allows you to set your favorite contacts for quick calling. It shows that WhatsApp is a company that cares about the needs and preferences of its users. They are constantly improving their apps to provide a better experience to their users.
