- Apple is rolling out a major update to Siri that will allow you to control popular apps like Uber, YouTube, Amazon, and WhatsApp with just your voice.
- You’ll be able to have Siri do things within apps, like book a ride, play a specific video, or add items to your shopping cart.
- This smarter Siri will use AI for natural conversations and is expected to be implemented in a future iOS update.
Siri is about to get a major update, and it’s not the kind you get by changing the wallpaper. Apple’s next-generation Siri is being redesigned to control your favorite apps, like letting you order an Uber, add something to your Amazon cart, or even comment on an Instagram post, all with just your voice.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is working on a Siri update that will go far beyond a simple update of its voice assistant. You can voice commands like “Siri, play the video on YouTube in full screen,” or “you can even ask to book an Uber from home to work.

Apple has included a note in the developer documentation for the App Intents system that hints at some big news: “Siri’s personal context understanding, on-screen awareness, and in-app actions are in development and will be available with a future software update”.
To ensure this works smoothly, Apple is partnering with popular apps like Uber, AllTrails, Threads, Teemu, Amazon, YouTube, Facebook, and WhatsApp, as well as some games.
This update is part of Apple’s ongoing effort to integrate AI-powered experiences. This Siri will reportedly be powered by a new Large Language Model (LLM), which will make it sound more natural and conversational. It seems like Apple is finally bringing Siri on par with ChatGPT or Google’s Gemini, but with the benefit of deeper integration with iOS.
Apple hasn’t given a specific release date yet, but based on documentation updates and developer conversations on Twitter and Apple’s own blog posts, it’s likely tied to an upcoming iOS update.
